Miss Chang - Chinese Man

Heard this song on my favorite French radio station today. I love everything about the video. The cinematography, use of light, colour, and the blurred impression.

Miss Chang - Chinese Man feat Taiwan MC & Cyph4 by chinesemanrecords

What is interesting from an IP perspective is that daily motion is the only place one can watch the video. Chinese Man and its record label have removed the video from YouTube. As an independent label, they don't seem to be on Vevo yet either. Opportunity for Daily Motion?

Organic Technology Visualized

ARTIFICIAL PARADISE,INC. from Jp Frenay on Vimeo.

This is a beautiful and technically brilliant piece on the organic properties that exist within the paradigm of technology.

The graphics are crisp and vivid, while the world is a consistent fusion between the living organic and the mechanics of technology.

The combination is visualized through a tangible space in which consumptive media properties exists.

Just like the piece of media you have just consumed.

Iphone Adventures in the Big City; Urban Daddy and Localized Utility

The Next Move - UrbanDaddy from Big Spaceship on Vimeo.

This is an interesting iphone application which was commissioned by Lexus.

The idea is simple; your in New York or LA and you don't know what to do, where to eat, or you want suggestions on whatever the city has to offer. You plug in the variables to the app, and it intuitively constructs a list of things to help you wander the city!

The app includes numerous contexts for what you may need to do. On a date? How about with an Ex-Girlfriend? Taking co workers out for drinks? The more specific the contexts, the more useful the app can be.

The Lexus brand is subtly suggested at the introduction of the application, which ultimately creates a higher value for branding considering the user could use it more than multiple times for greater brand retention.

The final result is a handy tool which will help anyone out in a variety of situations.

How else can an application commissioned by your brand become a useful tool for users?

Come talk to us, we can help.

Facebook is "Cash Flow Positive", a Step Towards Sustainability

Mark Zuckerberg posted a note announcing 300 Million members. Paragraph 3 of the post announces that Facebook is now "cash flow positive", which is great for sustainability in the social networking industry. A reason was not given for the increased revenue (or perhaps decreased expenses). I've read articles saying the the economic downturn has placed online advertising in a favorable growth position as marketing spending tightens, but ive also heard reports that online advertising budgets are down as well.

Another thing I found interesting on this blog note was the media's take on a "cash flow positive" situation, some reporting that Facebook is "profitable". Cash flow positive in no way means that. Further Mr. Zucherberg never mentioned how cash flows have become positive, whether it is indeed from operating cash flows, or from an increase in financing, or a decrease in investing.
Google news aggregation here.

Regardless, this is a great step in sustainability. Maybe Google will actually let us know if (or when) Youtube turns a profit.

MindManager: Map Your Jumbled Mind, But in Style!

About a year ago I found this application called MindManager by Mindjet. I used it once to try to map out a project, then kind of forgot about it. Luckly, my computer was stolen (staying positive), and in getting my new laptop setup, I remembered Mind Manager. So far this week, i've mapped out two projects, law school applications, and and attempting to try to map out a representation of my entire life!

For anyone that has to multi-task and think creatively while doing so, no matter what industry, MindManager is the solution. There's a lot of other mind mapping software solutions out there, but i think this one is the easiest to use and provides very professional looking results. Here's the Wikipedia list of all the mind mapping software:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mind_mapping_software

Now, I've seen some great presentations where a mind map is displayed and the presenter can focus on and enlarge topics within the map in a nice graphical way. Most are arduously done in Flash, but is there another way with one of these software solutions? if you know of any, comment it.

Bell Fund Bliki – How to Make Money with Multi-Platform Digital Media

The Bell Fund wanted to find a way to:
1. Provide producers with a one-stop-shop for revenue generation knowledge used in digital media platforms in the form of a wiki, and;
2. Provide commentary at the same time, via blogging.

Thus, the hybrid "bliki" was created. In a world of new media, stringent funding guidelines and transitioning networks, its great to find a place that can get you up-to-speed in the latest in this industry. Especially in a format that is easily updated.
